De derde repetitiedag. Vroeg op, om 9 uur starten de repetities van de Massed pipes and drums. Direct na ons optreden ging de complete band naar een ander square voor marching en discipline training. Met alleen de beat van de bass drum werd zo'n half uur continue gemarcheerd waarbij diverse instructeurs letten op de "dressing", het counteren en in formatie lopen. Commando's werden gebruld en er werd hard getraind. Hierna direct weer terug naar het square voor de oefening van de finale.
Na een 20 minuten rust werd de gehele taptoe weer geoefend in aanwezigheid van publiek. Onderstaande foto geeft een beeld weer van de Finale.
Lunch tijd! De pipe- en drummajors werden ontvangen in de Officers/Sergeant mess, waar een luxe lunch werd geserveerd. De rest van de middag waren we vrij, maar om half zes ging alles weer naar het kasteel voor een tweetal rehearsals. Nadat de eerste rehearsal was voltooid werd door de producer gezegd dat e.e.a. niet goed was en dat iedereen werd aangespoord om zijn uiterste best te doen. Wel, dat kwam goed over, overal werden extra drill oefenningen gegeven en de tweede rehearsal was duidelijk beter.

Na afloop marcheerde de Massed Pipes and Drums over de Royal Mile naar beneden, waar het publiek al stond te wachten, dat was echt kicken. Morgen de laatste twee Full dress rehearsals, waarvan de tweede met publiek. En dan? Dan gaat het echt beginnen!

Day three of the rehearsals. This morning we had an early start at Redford Barracks. After the rehearsal of the Massed Pipes and Drums item we went to another square doing some extra drill movements. Instructors of the Army School of Piping and Highland Drumming coordinate the drill. After half an hour of hard work we went back to square 1 where the Finale was rehearsed
After a 20 minute break the whole show was performed with some audience.
The afternoon we had some free time, however the whole cast was transported to the Castle in the late afternoon for two rehearsals on the Esplanade.
After the first rehearsal there was a lot of comment from the producer, so everyone was urged to do their best. Between the two reheasals several groups where practising thier drill movements. The result was far better. The second rehearsal went well and it was a great moment to march with the Massed Pipes and Drums down the Royal Mile.
Tomorrow we will have two full dress rehearsals, one with audience. After that the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo 2011 can start!
